The locale in NYC was no mistake, as Michael Burke, the brand’s Chief Executive Officer told WWDhe waited for the venue to become available, knowing that the exhibit was always destined for this particular space. Burke explains, “This was not available; we waited for this to be available. We wanted to do it in this venue.” Curator Olivier Saillard continues, “I like this idea of a building that was devoted to stock exchange, which is totally abstract today. Inside this building from the Thirties, suddenly we have all these trends, all these costumes, all these accessories, from the 19th century to today, which are not abstract. Facing this [building] there is a cemetery — so it’s quite metaphorical of life.”

The displays themselves chronicle the Louis Vuitton’s 160-year history: From the 19th century, through present day. WWD reports that roughly 80 percent of the current curation is the same as when it first opened in Paris a little more than two years ago.
